Mrs Mary Saul
I have recently retired from self employment as a Commercial Insurance Broker. As well as running my own company, I was a member of "Business Networking International" and was chapter director in Liverpool City Centre. Also up to the end of last year I was an adviser for CAB in Ellesmere Port. In addition to this I have been on the Board of Fundraisers for Wirral Autistic Society and have spent time working in the youth court at Chester Magistrates. I joined Brookhurst school as a community governor and have responsibility for SEND and Safeguarding. I also work alongside the children in the school garden.
Mrs Maria Beecroft
Clerk to Governors
Mr Eddie Thomas
“Every child matters.” This long standing school mission statement is why I have been a school governor at Brookhurst Primary School since 1992.
I have a very supportive wife Margaret and two sons Stephen and Andrew and a daughter in-law Sharon. All three are former pupils at Brookhurst School so my family has had a long involvement with the school.
I started work in 1959 as an apprentice at Lockheed Precision Product in Speke and retired in 1998 from Associated Octel in Ellesmere Port where I was employed as a Maintenance Engineer on the Lead Alkyl Plant.
Currently, I’m Chairman of the 5th Bebington Scout Group. My main involvement in Scouting was 22 years as ‘Cubs Football’ manager, moving camp equipment and a bit of washing dishes. All with the intentions of promoting fun and friendship that Scouting has to offer young people.
I’m passionate about football, and currently a season ticket holder (on the Kop) at Liverpool Football Club and at Tranmere Rovers (paddock).
I play golf, badly, at Eastham Lodge Golf Club twice a week and in the summer I bowl, often five games a week, for two crown Green Bowling Clubs, Penketh Argyle and Bromborough Pool.
Mrs Lisa Nicholson
Mr Graeme Carvell
I have lived locally my whole life, attending Raeburn Primary and Wirral Grammar school before graduating with a degree in Criminology at Nottingham Trent University. I am a big sports fan, especially football and enjoy nothing better than socialising with friends and family.
I have been a police officer for 10 years and currently work as an emergency response sergeant in Warrington. During my career I've worked in a variety of roles (including uniform and CID), met a number of characters (some nice, some not so nice) and gained great experience in managing people and performance, decision making and budget change/management.
It is a privilege to be a parent governor at Brookhurst Primary School, to have the opportunity to talk and listen to all parents and children as we work to make our great school even better!
Rev Maureen Coates
Revd Maureen Coats Community Governor
My career began in primary teaching, then after having a break for family moving on to Educational Publishing and latterly the development of national voluntary youth work. Finally after retirement I was ordained priest in the Diocese of Chester. Over the past six years I have been Curate in the Parish of St Mary’s Eastham. Many Brookhurst pupils take part in events at St Mary’s and St Peter’s churches which means that I have had the great privilege of officiating at Christenings and weddings as well as sadly some funerals for local Brookhurst families.
As a governor I often lead assemblies on Christian values and traditions. Because of my primary teaching background I am particularly interested in how the whole primary curriculum is developing and changing to help our young people grow to their full potential. I am pleased to be associated with such a well managed, successful and happy primary school and hope that my contribution as a governor is helpful.
Mr Kevin Williams
I am a parent governor who currently has 2 boys at Brookhurst: Alex in Y5 and Harry in Y1. My eldest boy, Jack, has recently left too go to secondary school. As a parent I have seen my boys grow academically and socially, developing in confidence as a result of the many concerts, drama productions and sporting events.
Through my 18 year background in safety training I have gained experience in a number of areas helpful to the position of school governor, including working within budgets, appraisals and the further learning and development of a nation wide team. I am analytical and will support and objectively challenge decisions if I feel it will benefit the school, staff and pupils.
I have a Nebosh diploma in Health and Safety and a degree in law which I hope will help me assist the school in monitoring and providing the best possible education for our children in a safe environment.
I am a proud parent like all of you, consistently wanting the best for all pupils at Brookhurst, and for them to continue developing in an enjoyable, challenging and varied learning environment.
Mrs Liz Davidson
Mr Anthony Cond
I have been a governor at Brookhurst since 2010, initially serving as a parent governor and latterly as a community governor. My children Charlotte, James and Ella all attend the school.
My day job is as the Managing Director of the publishing subsidiary of the University of Liverpool, where I am also an Honorary Fellow in the School of the Arts. In addition to running a business with a seven figure turnover, I am actively involved in higher education and served as part of an expert panel assessing the quality of modern languages research in UK universities.
During my tenure on the governing board at Brookhurst I have held specific responsibilities for Finance, Curriculum and Literacy and I have also acted as both Chair and Vice-Chair.
